Blast From The Past – January 3, 2006 - Behind Closed Doors...

Deuteronomy 6:5 - Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

How do you treat God behind closed doors? Does your relationship with him in public line up with the one you have with Him behind closed door? Do your expressions of love for Him in front of your pastor line up with your expressions behind closed doors? What's up with the closed door stuff!! Aren't you grown? And, who are you trying to impress...people? People who don't have a heaven or hell to place you in?

How unsettling to compliment how loving a couple looks, only to find out that he is an abuser or that she creeps! Being the loving parent to your children at church, hollering and screaming at them at home? Child of God in public? Child of satan behind closed doors? What's the point? Is God not gonna judge what you do behind closed doors, too? If you're not gonna love God, then just don't love Him! And the reverse is true, if you're gonna love Him, do that. Do that publicly and behind closed doors. What you do behind closed doors when only God can see it is the real indicator of who you really are. You may or may not be fooling others, but God knows all and sees all. You are absolutely not fooling Him! And, God is the One that has your life and your death in His hands.

The Word of God tells us to love the Lord with all our hearts and Him only shall we serve. When we live to impress others, we're serving them. Let's start this year off being real and not phony. This walk is a wonderful one, but it can also be a challenging one. Let what you do publicly line up with what you do behind closed doors. If your neighbor says that you act like you love God, make sure God can say the same thing. If you have another life behind closed doors, God is not pleased. Having a 'behind closed doors life' is not the way to go. Ask God to help you or lead you to someone who can. Be one of the ones that God calls His trophy in His kingdom. After all, He is the only one that would really know that, right??
